Why we need Jesus?
If you have ever wondered why people need Jesus, you are not alone. This is a HUGE question. Deep down, inside the human soul, we would have to all admit our life is a search. A search for something to satisfy the longings of our heart … we look for it in relationships (and no matter how wonderful the person, no one is perfect.  When we can’t find that perfect parent, friend, or spouse, we may look for it in possessions, but we can never have enough.  Or we may try to achieve the perfect position, what we always wanted to be, but somehow, when we get there, we wonder – what’s next? What is missing is a relationship with God.  He has a wonderful plan for each of our lives (Step 1).  He loves us and wants each one of us to choose to love Him (Step 2).  We think we know best how to live our lives, and even if we choose God, many times we try to have a relationship with God on our terms (Step 3).  But, there is only one way (Step 4) to have a relationship with God.  So, please take just a few very important moments to understand what the Bible tells us about having peace with God and the significance of Jesus in our lives:
  • We are all sinners and need a Savior.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23
  • Our sin separates us from God.
For the wages of sin is death. Romans 6:23a
  • God provided a way to bring us into fellowship with Him.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever
believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
    John 3:16
  • There is only one way to Heaven.Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the
life. No man comes to the Father but by Me.”
    John 14:6
  • Salvation is an act of faith. For it is by grace you have been saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God; not as a result of works so that no
    one may boast.
    Ephesians 2:8-9

If I understand and agree with this, how do I move forward with faith in Christ?

1.Admit your need (I am a sinner).
2.Be willing to turn from your sins (repent).
3.Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the cross and rose from the grave.
4.Through prayer, invite Jesus Christ to come into your life. (Receive Him as Lord and Savior.)

Are you ready to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?
If so, you can pray a simple prayer like this one that expresses the intent of your heart:
Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and I cannot save myself. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sins, and that He rose from the grave. I want to turn from my sin. I now ask you, Lord Jesus, to forgive me of my sin. Come into my heart and help me to live for you. From this moment on, I want to live my life trusting you. Thank you, Jesus, for saving me. AMEN.

If you prayed this prayer, the Bible says … “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13 Did you sincerely ask Jesus Christ to come into your life? Where is He right now? What has He given you? “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God–not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8,9

“He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” 1 John 5:12-13 Receiving Christ, we are born into God’s family through the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit who indwells every believer. This is called regeneration, or the “new birth.”

What do I do now? This is just the beginning of a wonderful new life in Christ. To deepen this relationship you should:
1. Read your Bible everyday to know Christ better.
2. Talk to God in prayer every day.
3. Tell others about Christ.
4. Worship, fellowship, and serve with other Christians in a church where Christ is preached. If you are not attending a church, find a Bible believing, Bible teaching church to attend. If you are living in the Auburndale area, we would love to invite you to come to First Baptist. Once you are in a church, you need to ask someone how you can follow the Lord in believer’s baptism.
5. As Christ’s representative in a needy world, demonstrate your new life by your love and concern for others.
